A fast typist will take 3-4 times the length of audio to transcribe a recording. Therefore, a 60 minute recording will take between 3 – 4 hours to transcribe.

We charge per audio minute. Our fees vary according to the total number of audio minutes, number of participants per recording and the turnaround time required. We have created a straight forward table for you to look at on our “how much do we charge” page.
As we are a genuine UK based business we are legally obliged to charge VAT in accordance with HMRC.
Our fees are competitive compared with any other genuine UK based company. We need to charge a certain amount to ensure our business is sustainable and to pay our highly proficient loyal typists a reasonable income.
If you find a service online that offers fees for much lower than us then it is reasonable to assume that they use a computer or are not paying their typists fairly.
We accept most forms of payment; online bank transfers as well as credit / debit card payments.
Confidentiality is extremely important to us. All of our team sign a confidentiality agreement with us and work from UK based offices. We are members of ICOs data protection and adhere to their strict guidelines.
No information is shared with a third party and as soon as we have completed the project we delete your audio files and transcripts – all data is stored and transmitted using the latest 256bit SSL encryption.
The majority of the projects we work on are of a confidential and sensitive nature – we work for most universities throughout the UK, the Police, councils, central government departments, the NHS and many private organisations all of which require absolute confidentiality.
We are also pleased to sign any further NDA documents if you require us to do so.
We keep your recordings and transcripts for the purpose of transcription only and remove them within 5 working days just in case there any queries.
We have ensured that it is very straight forward to use our service. Simply upload your recordings to us via our secure upload facility on our website and let us know as much information as possible. We will email you a quote so you know exactly how much it will cost. Once the fee has been approved we will return your work within the agreed turnaround time.
Automated Speech to Text software or AI systems are improving. However, computers are still unable to understand the context of conversation and therefore produce inaccurate results. We extensively test AI and they are currently around 85% accurate. This is fine for a short audio file recorded in a very clear environment without any background noise or foreign or regional accents. You will also need to be prepared to take some time and make corrections. However, it’s not quite ready for important content.
Fortunately, we have developed a secure website that allows you to easily upload your audio and our professional transcribers will provide you with at least a 99% accurate transcript.
Our typist will try and decipher the missing word by rewinding the audio several times and also having a Google search for relevant material. If we are still unable to understand the word we will then mark it as inaudible with a timecode reference next to it or s.l. (sounds like). After the whole document has been transcribed one of our project team will have another go at trying to find the word.
Our team work for UK based offices only – not abroad so your work does not leave the country.
The majority of our typists have worked with us for over 10 years meaning that we have a solid reliable team. They have all been through rigorous testing and their work is constantly checked by our project managers. All of their work is proof read too to ensure accuracy.
All you need is a digital sound recorder with PC / MAC access or a smartphone that’s it.
All audio and video formats. We have been working in this industry for over 12 years and we can’t think of a time when we were unable to process an audio or video file due to its format. For speeding up your uploads (sending your recordings to us) we recommend converting files to MP3 if you have the software.
